Ingredients

  • 2 T butter
  • 1 large sweet onion, sliced
  • 2 T brown sugar
  • 1 pinch caraway seed
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 6 whole bratwursts
  • 2 (16-oz) cans beer
  • 6 oz sauerkraut, rinsed
  • 6 hoagie rolls (split)
  • 2 T spicy brown mustard

Directions

  1. Preheat Bravo and set to bake at 350°F. Melt butter in a 10-inch roasting pan. Place onions in and cook until tender, 5 min.
  2. Add sugar, caraway seeds, and pepper. Stir. Remove onions with pan; set aside in pan.
  3. Poke a few holes in brats with fork. Place brats on top. Cover brats in pan with beer. Cook for 6 min. until brats are cooked. Remove brats. Add kraut and stir. Remove pan.
  4. Bring temperature up in Bravo and set to broil at 500°F (TOP only). Place brats in roasting pan. Set pan on cooking rack in position roasting pan on shelf position 2.
  5. Broil brats until golden brown, and return to beer/kraut mixture until ready to serve. Serve brats on fresh baked Hoagie roll with sauerkraut & onions, and spicy brown mustard. Serve.
