Spiced Pear Crisp

Ingredients

  • ¼-½ c brown sugar
  • ¼ c hazelnuts, ground sliced
  • ½ c rolled oats
  • ½ c all-purpose flour
  • ½ t cinnamon, ground
  • ⅛ t cardamom, ground
  • Pinch sea salt
  • 5 T unsalted butter, cold
  • 8- to 10-small pears, cored, thinly sliced
  • 2T pure maple syrup
  • ¼c cranberries, dried
  • 1t cinnamon, ground
  • ⅛ t cardamom, ground
  • ⅛ t allspice

Directions

  1. Place brown sugar, ground hazlenuts, oats, flour, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt in a medium bowl. Mix well. Cut in cold butter until pea-sized crumbles are formed. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Preheat oven to 360°F. Place all ingredients for the filling in a 9 x 9-inch baking dish and toss well.
  3. Evenly top filling with brown sugar nut mixture. Bake for 25- to 35-minutes, or until filling is bubbly and topping is browned. Rest the crisp on a cooling rack for 10 minutes before serving.
