Place brown sugar, ground hazlenuts, oats, flour, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt in a medium bowl. Mix well. Cut in cold butter until pea-sized crumbles are formed. Refrigerate until ready to use.
Preheat oven to 360°F. Place all ingredients for the filling in a 9 x 9-inch baking dish and toss well.
Evenly top filling with brown sugar nut mixture. Bake for 25- to 35-minutes, or until filling is bubbly and topping is browned. Rest the crisp on a cooling rack for 10 minutes before serving.
